Where to Stay in Cartagena with a Large Group

A whole house with 13 bedrooms, a pool and hotel service in the Walled City

Dining area under the pergola at Casa Bugó in Cartagena Old City

Planning a trip for 15, 20 or 30 people comes with one challenge: keeping everyone together. Cartagena has plenty of hotels, but few places where a large group can have its own space inside the Walled City. Here are the options and what to check before you book.

The three usual options

  • Several rooms in a large hotel: easy to book, but the group ends up on different floors and shares common areas with other guests.
  • Several apartments or small houses: more privacy, but the group is split up and nobody takes care of cleaning or breakfast.
  • A whole house with hotel service: the entire group under one roof, with its own spaces and a team looking after you.

What to check before booking

  1. A private bathroom in every room. With many people, shared bathrooms become a problem every morning.
  2. Air conditioning in every room. Cartagena is hot all year round, at night too.
  3. A place for everyone to be together: a pool, a rooftop or a dining area that fits the whole group.
  4. Who looks after you: reception, daily cleaning and breakfast make the difference on a trip of several days.
  5. Location: inside the walls everything is walkable, so there is no transport to organise every time the group goes out.
  6. Clear rules: how many people the price includes, whether events are allowed and which extras you can add.

Which groups it works for

Weddings and celebrations, bachelor and bachelorette parties, birthdays, family reunions and company trips. Every group uses the house differently: some want a party on the rooftop, others long breakfasts and the pool.

The whole of Casa Bugó, just for your group

Casa Bugó is a colonial mansion on Calle del Cuartel, inside the Walled City. You can book the whole house:

  • 13 bedrooms with private bathrooms and air conditioning, for groups of up to 30 people.
  • Courtyard pool, rooftop terrace and dining area under the pergola, just for your group.
  • Daily breakfast, cleaning and 24-hour reception.
  • Extras on request: private chef, bartender, DJ, yacht to the Rosario Islands and transfers.
